YES, WE REALLY DO HAVE EIGHT!

YES, We Really Do Have Eight!

I love babies. When my babies hit their first birthday, I long once again for that tiny helpless little person that smells like baby powder and doesn't squirm away when you're staring at his beautiful little face. Now don't get me wrong. I love the other stages too. I laugh out loud when I hear the jibber jabber of his first words (Jackson). I giggle when I see one dance hysterically when she hears a Justin Bieber song (Bekkah). I beam with pride when she puts gospel principals into action as she prepares for her upcomming baptism (Emily). I am amazed over and over as he accepts and conquers challenges far beyond his years (Ammon). I burst with pride as I watch his determination and drive in all that he sets his mind to (Zane). I melt when I see the empathy, and concern she has for others (Mckenzie). I have to catch my breath when I see him snuggle with his baby brother (Zachary). I am amazed as I read his letters from his mission (Tres). I guess I just love it all. And this is why I have, despite my horrible pregnancies, we have eight beautiful, talented, amazing, wonderful children!

A Tree Falls on Dartmouth Street

This morning I woke up to a phone call from my neighbor who called to let me know that our huge shade tree in our backyard was now in our front yard blocking part of the street. Dan is away at scout camp in California and I an in Utah visiting Grandma. What's a person to do. Live in the Salt River Ward, that's what.

I'd been trying to figure out what to do all day. Then tonight I got on facebook and saw pictures posted of Salt River Ward angels cutting up and removing that huge tree. What a wonderful blessing to know that our family is watched over by a loving Father in Heaven through amazing people all around us. I am just as grateful that the wind was blowing to the west. If the tree had fallen the other way our brand new kitchen would have been demolished! Just imagine what the insurance adjuster would think!

Happy Birthday Bekkah!

Can you believe she's THREE?! We feel especially grateful to celebrate this special day with our sweet little Rebekkah. A little less than three years ago doctors discovered that our perfect little baby girl had a not so perfect heart. She was born with a very rare condition having to do with a malformed tricuspid valve. Doctors also found that she several accessory pathways which cause her heart to beat incorrectly. And if that wasn't enough for our sweet little princess, she also has to deal with a blood clotting disorder. The news of her challenges was crushing. Doctors couldn't give us the answers to all of our questions and the realization that she may not be ours for as long as we thought tugged at our hearts. But with the faith and prayers of our friends and family, Heavenly Father has given us another year to spend with her. She is stable now, and continues to do well with her current medication. But we are not disillusioned. We know that the medications will not work forever, and she will need to have surgery to seal off the holes in her heart. We know that as she grows her valve could worsen and we will be faced with some very difficult decisions. But for now we will laugh when she dances in her tu tu, and cuddle when she has a bad dream, and pray each night when she drifts off to sleep for many more years with our beautiful Rebekkah.
